This may come as a shock to some of my readers, but we have never done a character dining experience. Okay, so some of you are probably not shocked because you know how cheap thrifty I am with our Disney trips. So then, maybe this next part will shock you- We FINALLY did one on Easter while in Disneyland. Yes, we spent $25 per person to have breakfast.
Want to know if I thought it was worth it? Was the food good? Were the characters plentiful or rare?
We did the Minnie and friends Character Breakfast at the Plaza Inn.
Now, Minnie herself, obviously not too rare. But let me tell you about the other characters, oh, and about the food.
To start- there was SO MUCH food. Hot foods, pastries, fresh fruit, and so on. Plus, unlike when eating at an IHOP or such, there are free refills on milks for the kids! YAY! (I know some restaurants give free milk refills but many don’t.)
The characters were AWESOME! We saw some characters you can catch any day in the park- Minnie, Chip, Dale, Pooh, Tigger and Eeyore. But the interactions with these characters was different. I mean, Disney Daddy was able to challenge Minnie to a staring contest.
Oh- and let’s not forget a photo bomb by Tigger when we were trying to get a picture with Pooh.
But seeing these characters, and even the food, didn’t justify to this cheapskate thrifty mama spending this much on a meal.
What did justify the meal was
Not to mention Captain Hook, The White Rabbit, the female mouse from Cinderella (we didn’t get her autograph and I can’t remember her name right now), and more!
We were able to get almost all of our signatures within 90 minutes! We had seen Goofy and Pluto just before this, and then went and saw Mickey, and we were pretty happy with our autographs by then and could focus on the rides! It was GREAT!
There was a down side- we were so busy getting autographs and taking pictures and interacting with the characters that our food did get a little cold before we finished it. But it was still YUMMY food!
So, even though I am all about saving money on your Disneyland vacation- I completely suggest doing this breakfast. I talked to a lot of cast members and friends, and this was the Disneyland Character Meal that came the most recommended….and we definitely were not disappointed!
Have you experienced a character meal? What did you like or dislike? What rarely seen characters did you get to meet?
