As spring gets closer (less than 4 weeks until March 20th!) I keep finding my schedule getting more and more busy. How do you parents with multiple kids in activities do it? Seriously. Right now I only have one child in extra activities and then toddler twins, and I feel like all I do is go, go, go! I do not look forward to when I have all 3 kids in multiple activities. I might have to hire a chauffeur for the kids at that point. I think the hardest part of our schedule is that many of the places we go, I have to try and keep two two year olds happy, often times while sitting in their stroller. That is why what I pack in my diaper bag is so important.
Our typical day is everyone up, fed, dressed, and out the door to take the Goof to school. Then the twins have therapy or some other type of appointment 3 days a week. Pick the Goof up right after that (he is in half day kindergarten), eat lunch, twins down for nap, work with the Goof on his reading or homework. Then on Mondays he has theater and Thursdays he has swimming. Not to mention all our doctors appointments and other activities we have going on. It just seems like we are constantly on the go.
My poor twins are dragged to activities, school drop off and pickup (Walking as much as possible) and more. Because of this I have to pay special attention to what is in my diaper bag. It seems like we kind of slack off with diaper bags once our kids hit the toddler stage, but I have found that a great diaper bag, packed for a toddler (or two), is a huge lifesaver when you are constantly on the go.
The best thing I have found to have in my go bag is some awesome snacks to keep my kids fed and happy. I also love that if we go somewhere fun like the zoo and they see other kids getting the (expensive) zoo concessions, I just take out some awesome snacks from my go bag and they are happy. This is also great for those activities that fall right during snack time.
My kids have a new favorite snack now too. They love the new TEDDY SOFT BAKED Filled Snacks that we picked up at our local Walmart (you can find them in the cookie and cracker aisle). They work perfectly for my on the go diaper bag because they are individually wrapped and my kids think they are super fun to eat. We were at the zoo recently (they had a fun Valentine’s Day event) and these were perfect! The loveable bear-shape made them the perfect zoo snack and made it so my kids were not begging for items from the concession stand.
I also love that TEDDY SOFT BAKED Filled Snacks have no high fructose corn syrup, no artificial flavors and no artificial coloring. The Goof gets so excited every time he sees them at Walmart. You can check out their special demo on February 23rd with GoGo Squeeze, plus look for special displays in your local store. You can even earn cash back on your purchase of TEDDY SOFT BAKED Filled Snacks at Walmart with the free ibotta app!
Another item that is essential for me to have on my on the go diaper bag for my toddlers is some quiet activities. Any parent of a toddler knows how tricky this is, and let me tell you, with two toddlers, it is even trickier. What might normally be a quiet activity for one can be the cause of yelling and crying with two toddlers. But this is what I have found works.
I like to pack some toys that my kids only get when we are out and about. Recently my two year olds have had a blast with these little spring toys. These are some I picked up at Walmart in the holiday section and came in a pack of 6 or 8. I bring 2-4 in the bag. They are inexpensive so if they bend them out of shape it is okay. Other great toys we have found work great are magnet building blocks, quiet books, and also little cars.
Now that my twins are a bit older, I love to also pack items so they can color. Two year olds don’t do well putting crayons back in boxes, so I take an old circular food container (from chips or candy) and put the crayons in there. It is a lot easier for them to get them in and out of. Then I pack a coloring book or even a notebook for them to color in.
Of course I also keep extra diapers, wipes, and an extra outfit or two in my diaper bag for my toddlers. Once I throw in a water bottle then I am ready to go. Then I can usually keep my toddlers entertained at my older son’s swimming, theater, or other appointments.
With my on the go diaper bag stocked up, we are able to stay sane with our busy schedule. Of course, I have to pack extra TEDDY SOFT BAKED Filled Snacks for my six year old and husband any time we go out.
Did I leave anything out of my on the go diaper bag that you have found is great to have? Let me know in the comments. And don’t forget to check out TEDDY SOFT BAKED Filled Snacks and earn cash back from ibotta when you purchase them on your next trip to Walmart.
