The 2022-2023 Ski Season is right around the corner. Here are some things to know as you plan your ski season in Idaho:
- Ski Resorts in Idaho are at varying altitudes and their season dates can differ greatly
- Smaller Resorts are often only open on the weekends or for limited hours. Be sure to verify hours with each resort, including hours during holiday breaks
- Be sure to check road conditions before heading to the ski resorts. Idaho roads can be quite slick, and the snow can be deep. Some areas may require chains

1. Bogus Basin
Bogus Basin is the closest ski resort to Boise, Idaho. You can even look up at night and see the lights from Boise at night. It is a favorite of many locals, but it also is often one of the last resorts to open. Here is what you need to know about Bogus Basin ski resort near Boise, Idaho.
Distance to Ski Resort from Boise City Center: 18.4 Miles being a 30-45 minute drive depending on road conditions and traffic.
Ski Resort day visit pricing: Pricing starts as low as $10 for full and half day tickets, and goes up to $69 NOTE: 2022-2023 Season Ticket Prices not yet available
Ski Resort Season Pass pricing: Season passes start as low as $139 and go up to $629. The higher passes include ski days at up to 18 other resorts.
Lodging: Bogus Basin Ski Resort near Boise has condominiums that guests may reserve, but most guests stay or live in Boise, Idaho.
Available Activities: Activities available at this resort include Alpine Skiing, Mountain coaster, Winter Tubing, Nordic Skiing, and Snowshoeing.
Dining Options: Bogus Creek Plaza, Double R Ranch BBQ Smokehouse, and Pioneer Lodge are options for food while at the ski resort.

2. Soldier Mountain Ski Area
This little-known ski resort near Boise, Idaho is actually located closest to the small town of Fairfield, Idaho. Much like Bogus Basin, this resort is small, and often opens later due to less snow.
This ski resort near Boise, Idaho is most known for its backcountry skiing. It is great for those who like a no-fuss location, as it does not have the extra activities that other resorts are now starting to add to bring in crowds.
Distance to Ski Resort from Boise City Center: 112 miles from Boise, Idaho is a 2-hour drive depending on traffic and road conditions.
Ski Resort day visit pricing: Pricing starts as low as $29 for “last hour” passes, and goes up to $59 NOTE: This resort offers a $10/ticket discount when you purchase your tickets ahead of time online
Ski Resort Season Pass pricing: Season passes start at $199 and go up to $499. There is also a Multi-Day Packs option for $79 and a Reciprocal Program with other ski resorts
Lodging: There is no on-site lodging options, though the resort does suggest some vacation rentals, including Killdeer Kottage.
Available Activities: Skiing
Dining Options: The Lodge and Fox Den Pub are available dining options.

3. Little Ski Hill
Little Ski Hill is one of those hidden gems that only a few seem to know about. This is a small resort located in McCall, Idaho. Most people pass up Little Ski Hill for the bigger resorts, but locals know what a gem this location is.
Little Ski Hill is a couple of hours from Boise, Idaho, but is the only McCall ski resort with night skiing. It has a pretty good price so many people drive up and ski at the bigger resorts, then take an afternoon break before heading to Little Ski Hill to do some night skiing.
This ski resort has very limited hours because of its size. Closed Mondays, only open after school during the week, but open all day on the weekend. Be sure to check the hours before heading to the resort.
Distance to Ski Resort from Boise City Center: 110 miles from Boise, Idaho with a 2 hour 20 minute drive, depending on traffic and road conditions.
Ski Resort day visit pricing: Pricing starts as low as $20 for youth and $25 for adults for the day. Kids 4 and under are free.
Ski Resort Season Pass pricing: Season passes start at $80 and go up to $325 for a family pass. Again, kids 4 and under are free. A dog pass is also available for $80
Lodging: There is no on-site lodging options, though you can find plenty of lodging in McCall. The most popular lodging options in the area are vacation rentals.
Available Activities: Nordic and Terrain Skiing, plus a terrain park.
Dining Options: There is no onsite dining, but definitely check out some of the options in McCall.

4. Tamarack Resort
Tamarack Resort is what many think of when they think of a ski resort. This is a fairly new, large ski resort located near McCall, Idaho. From an entire ski village to lodges, shopping, and beyond… Tamarack is the ski resort near Boise, Idaho that many would choose for a “ski vacation.”
But to be honest, many Boise residents do not choose to do “ski vacations” since we are so close to many resorts. Instead, Tamarack has become a destination for visitors from out of state to come and relax, ski, and enjoy the outdoors.
Distance to Ski Resort from Boise City Center: 94.6 miles from Boise, Idaho being a 2 hour and 20 minute drive depending on traffic and road conditions.
Ski Resort day visit pricing: Pricing starts as low as $55 and goes up to $195
Ski Resort Season Pass pricing: Season passes start at $199 and go up to $799, with a family pass available for $1899
Lodging: Lodging for Tamarack Resort ranges from staying at The Lodgeat Osprey Meadows, to chalets and condos you can book, to purchasing your own vacation home. You could also lodge at nearby vacation rentals that are off site.
Available Activities: Skiing, spa, and resort events including fireworks, concerts, and more.
Dining Options: Seven Devils Pub, Fern & Feather, Canoe Grill, and Mile High Cantina are available dining options.

5. Brundage Mountain
Rounding out our list is Brundage Moutain. After Bogus Basin, this is probably the most popular ski resort near Boise, Idaho that people head to.
Brundage Mountain is also located near McCall, Idaho, but having a higher elevation, is often one of the first resorts to open.
Brundage Mountain also has a great variety of activities, which makes it a big draw for families.
Distance to Ski Resort from Boise City Center: 117 miles from Boise, Idaho being a 2 hour and 30 minute drive depending on traffic and road conditions.
Ski Resort day visit pricing: Pricing starts as low as $40 and goes up to $94. They have a family fun 4 pack for $259 which includes rental gear for 4 and a lift pass for The Bear Chair, their mid-mountain lift. NOTE: 2022-2023 Family 4 Paks are not SOLD OUT
Ski Resort Season Pass pricing: Season passes start at $299 and go up to $899, with a family pass available for $1799, Children 6 and under season passes are $19
Lodging: Lodging for Brundage Mountain usually consists of vacation rentals in the area or hotels in McCall, Idaho.
Available Activities: Skiing, Snow Tubing, Snowmobiling, Snowshoe, Cross Country, Fat Bike Trail, Horse Drawn Sleigh Rides, seasonal events and more.

Best Ski Resort For: Best overall but especially great for families, those that want fresh powder, long runs and alternate activities. There is a reason why people love Brundage Mountain!
