If you are heading to Disneyland, especially with kids, you will want to check out Mickey’s Toontown.
It is an amazing area that kids and adults both enjoy. It feels like you have walked into a cartoon world. All of the fab five live here as well, and you can visit each of their houses. But one thing you might not know is that there are some tips to make your visit to Toontown a little better.
Go to Toontown early or late. We prefer to hit up Toontown as soon as it opens. Toontown will have different hours then the rest of the park, so be sure to check your park guide map to know what hours it is open. Going early or later in the evening usually means smaller crowds, cooler weather (great for all the outdoor play areas here), and shorter lines.
Believe the wait time sign for Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin. The first time we saw a 45 minute wait on the sign, we didn’t believe it. There was no visible line from the outside. So we went in. Boy were we wrong. Unlike most of the Disneyland rides, this one has the majority of the queue inside. It was definitely a 45 minute wait.
If the line for Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin or Gadget’s Go Coaster is under 20 minutes- DO IT NOW! The lines for these two rides tend to get long quickly since they are the only rides in this area.
The wait time at Mickey’s house can also be deceiving. When it says 30 minutes, it is probably accurate, but the difference is, this is a long walk through line where you tour Mickey’s house. There is a lot of stuff to do. Every time we have gone when it says a 30 minute wait, we have actually been able to zoom through in 15-20 minutes if we don’t stop and explore. But exploring is half the fun.
Mickey’s House is the best place to get pictures with the mouse. There is also always a photopass photographer there and they are more than willing to take a picture using your camera.
If you see a line for one of the Fab Five, hop in it and get an autograph and picture. But don’t be sad if the line is closed when you get there. Typically, Goofy, Donald and Pluto only take about 10-15 minute breaks before they are back out in a nearby location.
Goofy’s house has a play-yard for kids and Chip and Dale’s treehouse is also a great place to burn off energy.
Be sure to try everything in Toontown. You never know what pulling on a door handle, pumping a handle, or trying to make a phone call will do. There are a ton of little surprises all over Toontown.
Finally, be sure to have your camera handy. There are a ton of great photo opportunities you won’t want to miss.
