This post is from late last September. As we await for news on the new Disney Parks Moms Panel search/application process, I thought back on this post and how much I love what I took away from last year’s search. We have really tried to make special moment’s every day in our home, and we will continue to do so. I wanted to revisit this post for those who may be new to the blog.
I have been kind of quiet about the fact that I applied for the Disney Parks Moms Panel this year. We should soon be hearing who made it to Round 2, and while I am not getting my hopes up (though I have made it to round 2 several years) I did want to take a moment to talk about the initial application this year.
See, this year, they asked us a question I really loved. “What Disney phrase sums up how you feel after a visit to the Disneyland Resort?”
Think about your answer for a minute…. It’s okay. Take your time. There are so many great ones to choose from.
When this question showed up on my screen, I immediately had a line pop into my head. It was from Aladdin, The Return of Jafar. Honestly, not one of my favorite movies, but for some reason that movie is what came to mind. Genie says “Today’s special moments are tomorrow’s memories.” That was my answer.
Since I filled that out, I have applied that to every day of our life. Honestly, that is why we started vlogging (video blogging). To capture those special memories in a way where we can look back and relive them. While our daily lives may not have princesses and talking animals (except when watching Disney shows and movies) there are special moments every day. When the Goof had the babies cracking up while dancing around….that is a special moment that will be a favorite memory. Having a family game night, going for walks and bike rides, and family outtings to the zoo. Things that seem so ordinary. Those contain special moments.
Don’t get me wrong, Disney is filled with special moments, and I am excited that I have been able to have so many at such a magical place. But if we ever had to stop going to Disney, I know that my family would still have special moments every single day. Because special moments are the moments that make up every day of our lives. Maybe we don’t see them when they are happening, but they are the ones that one day we will look back and smile thinking of them.
Disney’s 2016 campaign is “Unforgettable Happens Here.” I love this campaign. I have so many special moments at Disneyland that I will never forget. But this campaign doesn’t have to be limited to Disney. I want to have unforgettable moments each and every day. It is something we can all achieve, if we focus on the things that are truly important. Family, friends, time, love, and enjoying the moments we have. That first kiss with your significant other, seeing your child smile for the first time, watching your children play together….all of those are the special moments that we want to remember for the rest of our lives. Those are the moments that will matter.
I want to challenge you to make some unforgettable, special moments today…so that you have those memories in the future, and so do your loved ones. “Today’s special moments are tomorrow’s memories.”
Tell me your special moments that will be favorite memories in the comments. I love hearing the moments that others cherish.
