Disney Souvenir Buttons to magnets

One thing I love about Disneyland is that there are lot of free souvenirs you can get in the parks. Did you know that? (If not check out this post about everything you can get for FREE during your visit) Same with Walt Disney World. One of our favorite free souvenirs is the buttons you can get in the parks. They have them for everything from anniversaries to birthdays, to first visits, and more. There are special ones handed out by cast members or given at character meals, etc. We love the, but what do you do with all those Disney souvenir buttons after you get home?

I am excited to share with you what we do with our Disney Souvenir Buttons after our trip. We turn them into souvenir magnets!
See, I was at the craft store when I saw this pack of 6 large (and very strong) magnets for $1.99.

Right away I knew that I needed these magnets, but I wasn’t sure what I was going to use them for. One day I was cleaning out my closet and I found our box of Disney Souvenir Buttons and had a brilliant idea to turn them into magnets that we could then display on our fridge.

All you need to do this craft is magnets, your Disney souvenir buttons and a hot glue gun.

Heat up your hot glue gun. I have one with two different heat settings, and it was best if I used the hottest setting. Use the hot glue gun on the magnet and attach it to the Disney souvenir button. Put the magnet on really fast after you put the glue on (in other words- don’t try and take a picture of the glue on the magnet). And then press down on the magnet/button really hard so you get a good even hold.

Once they dry/cool, you are all set. You now have Disney souvenir magnets that cost less than 50 cents each.

TIP: If you don’t want a permanent magnet on your button (We want to wear our citizens of Disneyland one every visit) you can still put a magnet on the back of the button without using glue on it.
Enjoy your new souvenirs!
Do you have another creative way you display your Disney souvenir button? Share it with me in the comment section.

That’s a perfect idea. To bad I didn’t see this before I went to Disneyland so I could have bought more buttons. Just got back a few days age.

Now that I’m thinking back, my mom used to do this with buttons when I was little. Never realized that most of the magnets on our fridge were originally magnets! Love this idea and will definitely be turning our Disney buttons into magnets for the fridge. Love it!

This is such I great idea! We always end up with some many of these when we go to Disney, and I don’t want to throw them away so we have them in drawers. Now I can get them out of the drawer 🙂 Thanks!
