If you read our Disneyland 101 post about the thrill rides Disneyland Resort has to offer, and if you are a roller coaster person, you are probably excited about California Screamin’. With good reason too. This is a high thrill roller coaster that is just amazing! But even those who like roller coasters are not always willing to take on this challenge.
Would you ride front row on California Screamin’? Disney Daddy specifically requests the front row when possible. Some people think he is crazy. So we took a video so you can decide for yourself.
Before we get to the video, a few fun facts about the ride. It was part of the original attractions in California Adventure Park when it opened. The ride has had some modifications, such as changing the Mickey head to a sun (Likewise, the Ferris Wheel changed from a son to a Mickey head).
A ride that used to stop in the middle of the pier in silence now contains a countdown (courtesy of Neil Patrick Harris). Disney Daddy and I have a theory this was added because so many people were bonking their heads or worrying the ride had broken down. This audio was added in May of 2003.
The ride reaches a top speed of about 55 miles per hour. It is the only Disneyland roller coaster to contain a loop.
So now that you know a little bit about the ride, check out this front row video and decide for yourself- would you ride in the very front?
You can find California Screamin’ located at the back of the park on Paradise Pier near Toy Story Midway Mania and King Triton’s Carousel. This ride offers fastpass (highly recommended) and has a height requirement of 48″, the highest requirement in the park.
So tell me, would you ride in the front row?
